WTF is Negative Dialectics - Adorno Awareness and my Artistic Alchemy
At the heart of my artistic practice lies a mindset and thought process I label "Adorno Awareness." Named in homage to Theodor W. Adorno, a post-WWII philosopher whose ideas profoundly influence my work, Adorno Awareness is an existential outlook that bridges philosophy and creativity, and it’s inherently non-dual. This aligns fully with my Practice, which is rooted in the study and inquiry of Tao.
Negative Dialectics, a philosophical concept put forth by Adorno, disrupts traditional dialectical thinking by championing a non-dual, nuanced understanding of reality. Adorno Awareness takes this philosophy and applies it to the creative process, nurturing a dynamic, non-binary space where art can freely unfold.
As I enter this mindset, I embrace the principles of Negative Dialectics, maintaining a non-dual state of awareness. My consciousness becomes a vast canvas, with every thought, every feeling, every experience, free to express itself without the constraints of binary classification. There are no polarities of right or wrong, beautiful or ugly, abstract or concrete. Instead, there is an open-ended dialogue—an exploration of contradiction, of coexistence, and of the richness that resides within the spectrum of artistic expression.
Adorno Awareness facilitates a unique state of split consciousness, a simultaneous sense of the self and the cosmos, where the subjective and the universal dance together in a symbiotic swirl. It's an intuitive space where I can witness and channel the deepest parts of my being—the visible but unseen child of yesteryears, the neurodivergent individual unmasking her autism, the non-binary thinker exploring the intersections of existence.
In this state, my creative process transcends the confines of conventional artistic narratives. The art that emerges is a raw, spontaneous manifestation of my thoughts and feelings, an ethereal articulation of my existence. The mediums I use—whether sound, AI-generated imagery, or traditional paint—become mere extensions of my consciousness, tools to capture the intangible essence of my Adorno Awareness.
This mindset transcends the personal and touches upon the universal, encapsulating shared human experiences, often misunderstood or overlooked. Adorno Awareness allows me to disrupt supremacy in artistic expression, to challenge stereotypical representations, and to shine a light on diverse narratives of existence.
To define Adorno Awareness is to describe a deeply personal journey towards embracing non-duality. It is a testament to my belief in the importance of cognitive diversity, neurodivergence, and the richness of human experiences. Through my art, I seek to share this awareness, inspiring others to explore the transformative power of non-dual thinking, to question, to disrupt, and to create authentically.
