Blooming Uncanny: Unmasking and Intuitive Art
Every artist holds a deep, unique narrative within themselves, often expressed through their chosen art forms. My journey as a late-realized autistic and the process of unmasking has similarly brought forth an expressive narrative, permeating my works in multifaceted ways.
My process is intuitive, organically aligning with my lived experiences, reflections, and internal dialogues. This narrative has found a new embodiment in my recent piece, "Blooming Uncanny." My workspace thrives on a plethora of media, providing me an expansive canvas of possibility. The process of creation for me is a blend of contemplation and serendipity.
As I navigate my life and its various themes, my art simultaneously evolves, seemingly independent but in a symbiotic dance with my inner world. This intuitive process often leads me to create pieces that, while devoid of intentional meaning at inception, gradually embody the essence of my contemplations, writing, teachings, and life.
"Blooming Uncanny," one such piece, is a testament to my journey and serves as an intimate self-portrait. The piece also brings attention to the double empathy problem in the autism spectrum, highlighting how a seemingly simple question may not be straightforward for those who process information differently. Within our responses, there often lies an intricate labyrinth of context and connections, unseen and unappreciated by the conventional gaze.
Through "Blooming Uncanny," I invite viewers to perceive and appreciate the world from a perspective distinct yet equally valid to their own, fostering a critical dialogue around empathy and understanding. The artwork stands as a testament to the autistic experience, serving as a celebration of the unique perspective we bring to the table and an exploration into our intuitive artistic process.
”Blooming Uncanny” is a testament to our unmasking, to our blossoming amidst the uncanny, to our ceaseless journey of understanding and expressing our authentic selves. It is a testament to the very essence of being an autistic artist.
